The final disputed Rick Leach and Scott Melville against Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge. The " Woodies " won in three sets and were thus able to defend their title. This was their third joint triumph at the Wimbledon Championships ( after 1993 and 1994) and their fourth joint Grand Slam title overall.
