Arthur Cornforth

Arthur Cornforth ( born February 21, 1861 in Smethport, McKean County, Pennsylvania, . † A5 August 1938 in Colorado Springs, Colorado ) was an American politician. Between January and March 1905, he was Deputy Governor of the State of Colorado.

Career

About the youth and education of Arthur Cornforth nothing is handed down. But he must have studied law. By October 1887, he practiced in Clyde in the state of Kansas as a lawyer. Then he moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked as express agent for the railroad company Denver & Rio Grande Railway worked until 1889. He then practiced as a lawyer in Durango again. In 1895 he also worked as a district attorney. Since 1896 he lived in Colorado Springs, where he specialized as a lawyer on cases in mining and in the real estate industry. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1903 and 1915 he was several times in the Senate from Colorado.

In 1904, Arthur Cornforth was elected to the side of Alva Adams Vice Governor of the State of Colorado. The election of 1904 but was soon challenged because of suspicion of fraud arose. When was this Objection sustained, lost both Adams and his deputy Cornforth in March 1905 their offices, which they had begun in January. 1913 Arthur Cornforth ran unsuccessfully for the office of mayor of Colorado Springs. Since 1921, he served as District Judge. At the time of his death on August 5, 1938, he was Chief Judge of the fourth judicial district of his state.
