Robert Lee Knous

Robert Lee Knous ( born November 1, 1917 in Ouray, Colorado; † 15 May 2000) was an American politician. Between 1959 and 1967 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Colorado.

Career

Robert Knous was the son of the former governor of Colorado, William Lee Knous ( 1889-1959 ). About his youth and education, nothing is handed down. During the Second World War he served in the United States Navy. Then he hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1953 and 1957 he sat in the Senate from Colorado.

In 1958 Knous was elected to the side of Stephen McNichols Vice Governor of the State of Colorado. This post he held 1959-1967. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1963 he has been following the resignation of McNichols deputy of the Republican successor John Arthur Love. 1966 Knous ran for the office of governor, but was defeated incumbent Love with 44:54 percent of the vote. He then worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He died on 15 May 2000.
