Arthur Harnden

Arthur Harnden ( Harold Arthur "Art " Harnden, born May 20, 1924) was an American sprinter who specialized in the 400 meters.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 he formed together with Cliff Bourland, Roy Cochran and Mal Whitfield the American team in the 4 x 400 - meter relay, which in 3:10,4 minutes with more than four seconds ahead ahead of France won the gold medal. Harnden was first runner.

As a single runner over 400 meters, it was not at the start. ( The U.S. was in London over 400 m with Mal Whitfield, David Bolen and George Guida represented that reached all three of the finals. )

The games in London were his only Olympic participation. His best time of 47.3 s, he scored in 1948 as third in the U.S. Meuisterschaft.
