The AMD Athlon II AMD is a multi-core processor for desktop computers and a representative of the K10 and Bulldozer architecture (Socket FM2). The first models are available since 2 June 2009. Athlon II is the direct successor to the Athlon X2 processors.

The Athlon II processors for Socket AM2 ( ), AM3, and FM1 are like the Phenom II processors representatives of the K10 architecture. Athlon II processors for socket FM2 are representative of the Bulldozer architecture and based on the A10 APU 's with disabled graphics. They were introduced in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Regor

The based on the Regor core Athlon II X2 processor has, unlike the Phenom II X2 but no L3 cache, the L2 cache per CPU core is twice as large compared to the Phenom II X2. In a few models, which are based on the Regor core, the L2 cache, however, is deactivated again in half. In addition, the " Regor " comes with a disabled core as a " Sargas " in current Sempron models used.

Stars ( Llano )

Processors based on the star cores, in contrast to processors Propus base not only the memory controller, but the complete Northbridge including PCIe controller integrated on the processor chip. The motherboard is accordingly only a southbridge, which is addressed common with Unified Media Interface ( UMI ) as in AMD, UMI is based on PCI Express.
