Baustert

Baustert is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land. Baustert is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

The municipality lies in the Eifel on the edge of the South Eifel Nature Park. It is traversed by the streams Mühlbach, Watzbach and Eschbach.

The municipality Baustert next to the eponymous site include the districts Baustert ditch and Bergshausen and the living spaces on chin Scheid and Mayrhofen mountain.

History

Baustert was first mentioned in documents as Bustatt in 893. Because of the name is presumed to have birth of the village in the Carolingian period. Since the late Middle Ages the village belonged Luxembourg now partly to rule Bettingen and partly to rule New Castle. In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, occupied and annexed in October 1795. From 1795 to 1814 Baustert belonged to Canton New Castle in the department of forests. Baustert main location of an Mairie. Parish council

The local council in Baustert consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Culture and sights

Baustert is a recognized tourist destination in the South Eifel Nature Park. There is a partnership with the Southern French community Charmé, which is dedicated to the Place de Charmé. Furthermore, interest is the Gnadenskapelle from the 17th century.
