Ehlenz

Ehlenz is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geographical location

The village is located about ten kilometers north of Bitburg, in the Eifel region in the valley of Ehlenzbachs. Immediately adjacent communities are Ließem, Bickendorf, Heilbach, Schleid and upper hamlet.

To Ehlenz includes the residential places Acker Castle, Schäfermühle, Banzenbach and to Schäfermühle.

History

The discovery of the remains of Roman buildings and mosaic floors near the " Acker Castle " suggest an early settlement. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1233 under the name " Elesezze ". Agnes von Malberg mortgaged their farms in Ehlenz, Stedem and Hinkel to the Archbishop of Trier, Theodoric II

Ehlenz belonged to the end of the 18th century kurtrierischen Office Wilsecker.

Parish council

The local council in Ehlenz consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
