Hamm, Bitburg-Prüm

Hamm is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geography

The village lies in the South Eifel nature, about 10 km north- west of the county town of Bitburg. It is nestled in the valley of the Prüm, which has strong turns in the area Hamm and immediately east of the village nearby Bitburg reservoir flows through. History

The oldest written mention of the name " Ham " is possibly the commentary on the Prüm land register, which the Prüm Exabt Caesarius of Milendonk made ​​1222. In the land register from the year 893, among others, a nameless mill on the Nims ( Nimiza ) is mentioned among the possessions of the abbey of Prüm in the chapter on Mötsch ( Merxz ). Attractions
