Echtershausen

Echtershausen is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geography

The municipality is located in South Eifel nature about 10 km north- west of the county town of Bitburg. The Prüm runs to the east of the village and flows into the 1km from Echtershausen remote Bitburg reservoir. Of the 2.49 km ² pretty small municipality 46.4 % is used for agriculture, 44.7 % are passed by forest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1325 as " Ochtershausen ". The suffix "- live " dates from the time of clearing the 9th- 11th Century. Until the French occupied the area, the place belonged to the Luxembourg rule Hamm. From 1794 it was administered by the Mairie beer village, went up in the same village mayor beer in 1816. The latter came in 1856 to the mayoralty Bickendorf. (1927 in the Official Bickendorf renamed), from which with further offices in 1970 formed the municipality Bitburg -Land

Population Development

For 1473 and 1493, the Luxembourg fireplace Directory of three households in Enchtershusen. 1656 the village had grown to three in 1848 to 16 houses with 131 inhabitants. The previous high was reached in 1871 with 167 inhabitants, compared to the 2006 counted 106

Policy

The local council in Echtershausen consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The colors blue and silver symbolize the long belonging to the Duchy of Luxembourg. The shaft bars represent the Prüm. The wheel in the lower part Crest is a plow-wheel, and thus a reference to the original structure of the agricultural community.

Attractions

In the town center there is a slate rock, reminiscent of the earlier western course of Prüm to the resort. Worth seeing are also next to a chapel dating from 1892 and distributed throughout the district, agricultural homesteads.

Economy

Among other things, due to the nearby reservoir Bitburg Echtershausen is a touristy community today. This is evidenced two village inns with board and several apartments. The importance of agriculture has declined sharply in recent years compared to the surrounding areas; as the agricultural area from 1971 to 2005 has more than halved. Most workers are employed in Bitburg, the Trier region and in Luxembourg.
