Wettlingen

Wettlingen is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geography

Wettlingen located 10 km southwest of Bitburg in bed Ingen at the Prüm. Of the 346 hectares of the municipality is 84 hectares of forest, 229 are used for agriculture.

History

Wettlingen is a municipality Frankish origin. On the mountain community remains Frankish graves were found. First mentioned is the place in 1200 in a Stiftungsverzeichnes of the Trier cathedral chapter. The place had a mill, which was sold in 1329 by the Lord of New Castle to John de la Roche. The state government was the Luxembourgers who managed the place of the provost Bitburg. 1570 Agatha chapel is first mentioned. After the Thirty Years' War were from seven yards four uncultivated.
