The train station Berlin -Schöneberg is a Berlin S- rail station in the district of Schöneberg. It is located at the intersection of the ring road with the Wannseebahn.

Military station Schöneberg 1875

The first railway station in the Schöneberg was erected on October 15, 1875 Military Station of the Royal Prussian military railway. He was at that time east of the training ground of the Second Railway Regiment and about 500 meters north of the barracks, for example, in the angle formed today by the General -Pape -Straße and the column road. It was rebuilt and enlarged in 1890 and probably in 1919, according to other sources in 1945, then canceled.

Today's station Schöneberg

Since May 1, 1897 existed south of the first Schöneberg ring railway station is a station Ebersstrasse. An interchange with nearby Wannseebahn was not from here, the passengers had to go instead with the circle line down the Südringspitzkehre up at that station Schöneberg, and from there take the trains of the Wannsee train. The station itself was built as a typical ring station turn of the century with a clinker-brick station building, designed by Fritz Kling wood.

The situation changed with the electrification of the Wannsee railway in 1932/ 1933. The Wannseebahn had no interchange with Ringbahn the only suburban route. As a solution to this problem of Ebersstrasse station was demolished except for its brick portico and instead built a tower station. For the circle line, which is somewhat higher here, a glass hall was built. The station was opened with the completion of electrification work on the Wannsee train station than now to Schöneberg, while the old station Schöneberg was renamed earlier in the year already in Kolonnenstraße.

The Second World War was the system largely unscathed, and the scheduled traffic could be resumed soon after the surrender. Due to the kingdom workers strike of 1980, both the ring and the Wannseebahn were shut down. Only after the takeover of West Berlin S -Bahn by the BVG, the Wannsee railway could be reopened on 1 February 1985. The operation on the ring road followed the first four years after the turn on 17 December 1993.

Between September 2010 and early 2012 the bridge for the freight tracks of the ring road at the Schöneberg station was renewed. Unlike the previous superstructure came a column-free steel truss bridge for use. The currently disused freight tracks between Tempelhof and Hallensee to be repaired in 2013.

The Schöneberg station is serviced today at the ring road through the lines S41, S42, S45 and S46 as well as on the Wannsee line by line S1. There are two entrances, one hand on the Ebersstrasse to the ring platform and accessible from the Dominicusstraße to Wannseebahn with barrier-free transition to the ring road.
