Geography

Geographical location

Bern city lies on the old Roman road that led from Augsburg to Cannstatt, about ten kilometers north of Ulm.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Holzkirch and Neenstetten, on the east by the city Langenau, to the south and to the west by Hörvelsingen Beimerstetten and Wyke.

History

The Lords of Berolfstat that gave its name to the parish, were first mentioned in a 1209 deed. However, the place must be older because there is a separate parish for him since 1195.

Religions

1484 St. Lambert 's Church was built as a Catholic church. Since the Reformation, but the place is Protestant and the church is still used by the evangelical community. The Catholic part of the population belongs to the parish thorn city.

Education

In Bernstadt is a primary school since 1902. Secondary schools (Hauptschule, Realschule, Gymnasium) can be visited in Langenau.

Bern city also has a children's garden, which is operated by the Evangelical Church.

Museums

The castle is located since 1982, the local history museum of the place.

Structures

The castle in Bern city was built in 1549 by Georg Better, a member of a patrician family in Ulm, as a country residence. After the destruction of the castle in 1688 it was rebuilt in the early 18th century in the Baroque style again. Later the castle served as a school, kindergarten and hosted by World War II expellees. Today, the castle houses the Bern 's Town municipality and the local museum.
