Bierbaum at the Auer is a municipality with 473 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the southeastern Styria. It is located in the judicial district of Bad Radkersburg or district Südoststeiermark.

Bierbaum at the Auer Bach is located in the district of Southeastern Styria, the Austrian province of Styria.

There are no other cadastral except Bierbaum am Auersbach.

The community Bierbaum am Auersbach is fused according to the new community structural reform with the town of Sankt Peter am Ottersbach.

History

How Bierbaum once got its name

In the area at the Auer Bach was a magnificent pear tree. There met the journeymen again and told of their experiences and adventures. Had they rested under the shade of the pear tree to again to go on foot, they called themselves too: "We treff'n again next year when Birnbaum! "

When once with this Pear three stray journeyman named Burannerl, Burmichl and Burjoga met, they were of the picturesque region so impressed that they decided to abandon their nomadic life to become sedentary peasants. They built the first houses.

Thus, the location of the legend arose after and got its name from the once mighty Birnbaum, the (now Wagist ) should have stood a few decades ago before the house Fröhlich.

The abolition of the manorial system was carried out in 1848., The local church as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938 the congregation to Reichsgau Styria came from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
