Geography

Böhen is located about 20 km south- east of Memmingen in Swabia means and belongs to the Danube -Iller region.

The municipal area consists only of the district Böhen.

The municipality Böhen includes the villages of Böhen, mountain, fire wood, fricken, Günzegg, Hüners, Karlins, Kräpflins, cutters, Lampolz, Neubauz, Nollen, Upper Rechenberg, Upper Forest Mill, Oberwarlins, Osterberg, Pfaudlins, Schögglins, Schwanden, sticks, parts, Unterrechberg, Under Waldmuhle Unterwarlins, Westenried and meadow.

History

First known mention Böhens located in chronicum Ottobuarum ( built around 1180). In the hand-written chronicle of the founding period of the monastery Ottobeuren in 746 among other places Behaim mentioned as an alleged foundation property. The veracity is uncertain due to lack of original documents, but is backed up with the fact that Böhen has already existed a long time in the year 1180.

Böhen belonged to the Empire pin Ottobeuren. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in the Kingdom of Bavaria was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

The coat of arms was approved on April 6, 1983 by decision of the Government of Swabia.

The municipal coat of arms heraldic recalls in a simplified form to the geographical location of the community in the hills of western Günz and its tributaries. The territory belonged to the kingdom Urbesitz pin Ottobeuren, which is made clear by the Abtstab.

The design of the coat of arms is derived from pin archivist and curator circle Aegidius Kolb and the organization took over the Passau Max Reinhart.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
