Capo d'Orlando
Capo d' Orlando is a city in the province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, with 13,268 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Capo d' Orlando is located 89 km west of Messina at the foot of the cape of the same name. The inhabitants work mainly in agriculture, crafts, fishing and tourism. The location on the Mediterranean has made the place into a tourist center on the north coast of Sicily.
Capo d' Orlando is the Capo d' Orlando Naso station on the railway line from Messina - Palermo. The journey time is 1 hour and to Messina. According Palermo 1 hour and 40 minutes Capo d' Orlando has over the exit Brolo or Rocca di Capri Leone connection to the A20 / E90 motorway.
The neighboring municipalities are Brolo, Capri Leone, Naso, Torre Nova and Mirto.
History
The place has its origins in antiquity. Probably here stood the ancient city Agathyrnon. Documentary evidence of the city is since 1320. 1920 the town got its independence from the neighboring town of Naso.
