Hakan Şükür ( born September 1, 1971 in Adapazarı, Sakarya ) is a former Turkish football player and current politician of Albanian origin.

His nickname is " Kral " (engl. "The King "). Because of its size, it is also called " the Bull of the Bosphorus ", although it does not come from Istanbul.

Career

In his early career played Hakan Şükür at his home club Sakaryaspor, in which, with almost 18 years he made his debut in the Süper Lig 1988. Two years later he moved to Bursaspor. Not least because of his outstanding header game the bigger clubs quickly became aware of him.

Although he was " not very good " played in Bursa to own, later statement, the 20 -year-old denied in March 1992 against Luxembourg his first game for the Turkish national team. In the summer of the same year, he joined the national giants Galatasaray.

At Galatasaray Şükür was part of the defining Turkish team of the 1990s. After he had joined the club in 1992 connected to this the Turkish championship and won four to six times the 2000 Cup. From 1997 to 1999 Şükür three-time top scorer in the league. As most successful Galatasaray won the UEFA Cup in 2000 and becoming the first Turkish club an international title.

During this time Şükür participated with the national team at the European Championships in 1996 and 2000. While Turkey ever to retire at their first European Championships in the first round, the team reached the quarter-finals in 2000.

As early as 1995 Şükür had briefly played for the Italian club Torino Calcio. 2000, the year of his greatest achievements so far, the UEFA Cup victory and moving into the European Championship quarter- finals, he moved back into the Serie A and joined the giants Inter Milan. However, with the Nerazzurri no success it was granted and he played only 24 games in one and a half years before moving to Parma in January 2002.

In the summer of 2002, he took with Turkey participated in the World Cup in Japan and South Korea in which the team behind Brazil and Germany the third-best team was. In the match for third place against South Korea ( 3-2 ) scored Şükür after eleven seconds, the fastest goal in World Cup history.

After he had moved to Parma in 2002, the now 30 -year-old Şükür could prevail neither the AC nor in his subsequent club, the English first division club Blackburn Rovers. In the summer of 2003, he moved after only three years in Western Europe back to Istanbul at Galatasaray where he won the Turkish Cup twice more. After his contract expired at Galatasaray on 30 June 2008, he finished his career officially in November 2008.

Hakan Şükür saw in his entire career, only once the red card; on 26 May 2006 at a match against Samsunspor that Bulent Uzun initiated. In 112 international matches, he scored 51 goals and is the top scorer of the Turkish national team.

Currently Şükür is an expert in the football program " Maraton " at the transmitter LigTV active.

For the general elections on June 12, 2011 Şükür candidate for the Turkish ruling AKP party in the province of Istanbul and moved into Parliament. On December 16, 2013, Şükür declared his withdrawal from the ACP, where he accused it of "hostile steps " against Fethullah - Gulen Movement.
