Henry Francis Bryan

Henry Francis Bryan ( May 3, 1865 in Cincinnati, Ohio, † March 19, 1944 in Meriden, Connecticut) was an American naval officer. Between 1925 and 1927 he was military governor of American Samoa.

Career

In 1887, Henry Bryan graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis (Maryland). Subsequently, he served on various warships as an officer in the United States Navy, including the USS Newark. He also took part in the Spanish-American War of 1898. In 1921 he was commander of the Special Service Squadron, which mainly in Panama and Costa Rica protected American interests at the time. In the meantime, he also worked in Naval Intelligence. Upon leaving the military service he had brought it to the Rear Admiral.

In 1925 he was reactivated and appointed Governor of American Samoa. This office he held as a successor of Edward Stanley Kellogg between 17 March 1925 and 9 September 1927. During this time, he called the Ministry of Communications ( Department of Communication ) to life. Henry Bryan died on March 19, 1944 in Meriden.
