Lieutenancy areas of Scotland

Lieutenancy Area in Scotland is the name given to the responsibilities of the ceremonial Lord Lieutenant, the representatives of the British monarch in Scotland. The area of a Lieutenancy area may be different than the current districts and the historic counties of Scotland. Similar areas of England are the local ceremonial counties.

The office of the Lord Lieutenant in the four cities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and is ex officio by the respective Lord Provost, an elected politician, perceived. All other Lord Lieutenants are appointed by the British monarch. Currently, Scotland is divided into 35 Lieutenancy Areas:
