In the quarter- finals of the Australian Open 2005 Davydenko was against the American Andy Roddick on at the registry of 3:6, 5:7, 1:4. In many betting shops there were extraordinarily high sums for a victory Dawydenkos what appeared unusual at that time. Expert on the tennis scene expected a victory of Roddick, who won the game as well. Also, a report by Fred Kowasch could not clearly establish the facts.

That same year, Davydenko was at the ATP tournament in Gstaad in the first round match against the Armenian Sargis Sargsian on for an alleged hand injury when the score was 6:1 and 1:0. The bookmaker Sportingbet posted in this high stakes game on an outsider victory. At the match between Davydenko against Martín Vassallo Argüello occurred in various bookmakers to very high stakes on the victory of the outsider. The Polish bookmaker STS took the game as one of the first from the program. Due to high stakes many other bookmakers had to temporarily adjust or take the game also from the program quotas. The bookmakers Bet365 interrupted his live betting offer during the match because the bookmakers saw no point to lay odds live. Both before and during the game, the online betting exchange Betfair reported an exceptionally high turnover at victory Argüellos. The game course was atypical. Argüello took a few minutes in a Verletzungsauszeit claim to be treated be nosebleeds, but then played on. The ATP decided to initiate an investigation, which initially remained inconclusive. Later in the tournament, there was another eye-catching gradients between Agustín Calleri game and Stefan Koubek and Argüello and Albert Montanes. Davydenko himself dismissed the allegations of fraud always vehemently. In addition to also investigation initiated management decided to Betfair until further notice, all games with Dawydenkos participation limited or no offer. Another incident took place on 25 October 2007 at the ATP tournament in Saint Petersburg. Despite a 6-1 lead against Marin Cilic, the Russian lost his game even more with 6:1, 5:7 and 1:6. After several double faults Davydenko was warned by referee Jean -Philippe Dercq to play properly. Again it came, as in the games already mentioned, above-average high stakes on the underdogs. Davydenko was sentenced to a fine of $ 2,000 on the grounds of not having fought with all means against the threat of defeat by the supervisor of the tournament. In contrast, the players protested successfully, so that the sentence was withdrawn. A week later, the Russians lost at the Paris Masters with 2:6, 2:6 against Marcos Baghdatis.
