Geography

Oberschönegg is located about 20 km north- east of Memmingen in the Danube -Iller region in Upper Swabia.

Expansion of the municipal area

The municipality consists of the districts Oberschönegg, Dietershofen b. Babenhausen and wine Ried.

The municipality includes the villages of Oberschönegg Oberschönegg, Dietershofen, Märxle and wine Ried. The 1580 referred to in the Salbuch of Pflegamts Schönegg settlement Jürgen Langer and until 1933 passed wasteland Berghof have left the place. Wine Reid existed until the Thirty Years' War from two premises, then only from a yard.

History

The castle was the seat of an important Altenschönegg Reichsministerialgeschlechts. Since 1355 she was Pflegamt of the Bishopric of Augsburg. With the Imperial Diet of 1803, the city fell to Bavaria.
