Õismäe

Õismäe ( German for " flower mountain") is a district (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. It is located in the district Haabersti, six kilometers from the center of Tallinn.

Location

Õismäe has 942 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010). The municipality is situated on the Bay of Kopli ( Kopli Laht ) with its Baltic Sea beaches. Nearby are the Estonian Open Air Museum ( Eesti Open Air Museum ) and the Moor of Õismäe ( Õismäe raba ). The municipality is located northeast of Harku Lake ( Harku järv ).

History

The area was otherwise recorded in Tallinn combing book in 1440 as Laddienpäh, Lapwenpe or Ladenpe geheten Hensinck. As of 1549, the small settlements of the area administered by the Tallinn Forest councilors. 1646 were the pastures of Õismäe as hay- Heise participants mentioned ( neem = estn " headland ").

For the year 1697, a village called Eismeggi is mentioned. On the map of the Baltic German geographers Ludwig August Mellin is the place occupied in 1798 as Essemeggi.

1958, the eastern part of the then independent village Õismäe ( Õismäe küla ) was the city of Tallinn incorporated. With the local government reform in 1975 the entire area of ​​the former village Õismäe was part of Tallinn.

Today, private houses predominate in the green wooded garden city.
