Ron Wyden

Ronald Lee Wyden ( May 3, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. Since 1996, Wyden represents the state of Oregon in the United States Senate.

Life

Wyden was born in Kansas, the son of Edith Rosenow and Peter Wyden, who later became known as an author. His Jewish parents had fled from Germany. Wyden grew up in Palo Alto, California, and attended Palo Alto High School. Then Wyden studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and then moved to Stanford University, where he studies in 1971 with a BA completed. The subsequent studies at the University of Oregon School of Law, he finished in 1974 with a JD law degree. As a politician of the Democratic Party in January 1981 he succeeded the catchment as an MP in the House of Representatives of the United States, where he remained until February 1996. 1996 Senator Wyden was for the state of Oregon in the United States Senate. He currently chairs the Energy Committee.

With his first wife, Laurie Wyden has two adult children. His second wife was married to Nancy Bass since 2005, with whom he has two more children. Wyden lives with his family in Portland, Oregon.
