Biography

Záhrobskás career is the result of long-term planning of their father. Petr Záhrobský, a lawyer by profession, was previously never skied. He studied in detail, however, the theoretical foundations of Alpine skiing and built on the basis of his self-taught skills acquired systematically to the career of his daughter, whose talent he recognized early. Since time immemorial, it is her personal trainer and runs a small support team, will not cooperate with the Czech Ski Association.

In 2000 won the Trofeo Topolino Záhrobská. As of November 2000, she participated in FIS races. Four days before her 16th birthday Záhrobská made headlines when she reached the Arlberg the 21th Place in the giant slalom at the 2001 World Championships in St. Anton - and this, even though they had never been in a World Cup race at the start. From January 2002, then served in the European Cup. On December 15, 2002, she went for the first time at a World Cup race at the start and immediately became fifth.

As a result Záhrobská could confirm this performance with consistent results. In St. Moritz, she placed ninth in the giant slalom at the 2003 World Cup. At the Junior World Cup in Maribor in the following year, she won a bronze medal in the slalom and depending on the combination. After several placings in the top ten it has established itself at the 2005 World Championships in Santa Caterina finally lead the world, behind Janica Kostelic when she and Tanja Poutiainen won the bronze medal in the slalom. In the same year of winning the slalom gold medal at the Junior World Championship 2005 in Bardonecchia was added.

Compared with the previous year Záhrobská recorded a step backwards in the season 2005/ 06: In the World Cup it was no more than eighth place out, and at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games was a 13th place their best result. However, the conciliatory statements formed the giant slalom victory at the national championships in Slovenia and Croatia ( Janica Kostelic before ). Far better was the following season: On January 4, 2007, they succeeded in Zagreb in the World Cup podium for the first time and at the 2007 World Championships in Åre, she won the slalom gold medal ahead of the favored Marlies Schild and Anja Parson. In the slalom overall World Cup they finished third.

Even in winter 2007/ 08 convinced Záhrobská on. She drove in the slalom stable under the top ten and finished fifth in the slalom standings. In addition, they could establish themselves in the giant slalom in the midfield. After a total of five podium finishes, she succeeded on 30 November 2008, the first, long-awaited victory in a World Cup race when she decided the slalom in Aspen for themselves. With two more podium finishes they achieved in the 2008/ 09 season behind Maria Riesch in second place in the slalom World Cup. Another medal, this time silver, she won the slalom at the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere. At the Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010 it secured in the slalom bronze her first Olympic medal. In the slalom World Cup Záhrobská came in the 2009/10 season with her second victory in Aspen for the fourth consecutive year in the top five. Slightly less successful was the 2010/11 season, in which they remained for five years without first podium and dropped back to tenth place in the slalom World Cup. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, she was twelfth in the slalom. The 2011/12 season was a disappointing one. Beat your best score recorded is right at the start of the season at slalom in Aspen with a 13th place.

In July 2012, she was a benign brain tumor removed. She could already begin in September with the snow training and returned in November 2012 back to the World Cup. In the course of the season 2012/13 she could classify five times in the top 15 despite the training residue.
