Saulxures

Saulxures ( German Salzern ) is a commune with 531 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the canton hall in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Haute- ruptures.

Geography

The street village is located in the Vosges near the river customs and is surrounded by forest. After the big city Strasbourg in the northeast you drive around 60 km. Over the Col du Hantz, a road leads into Lorraine Rabodeau Valley.

History

An early mention of the village dates from the 14th century. She was then in the possession of the Counts of Salm. For a freight division of the estate around the year 1600 Jean IX. awarded by Salm, which earned it with his marriage in the Duchy of Lorraine. During the waning power of influence of the dukes of Lorraine in 1751, the area was returned to the house of Salm and was finally annexed in 1793 in the wake of the First Coalition War of France and defeated the now defunct Canton de la Plaine. Under Napoléon Saulxures went in 1801 to the canton hall over.
