Walterswil is a municipality in the Oberaargau the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Geography
The municipality comprises the towns Walterswil, Mühleweg and Schmidigen. Walterswil can be geographically assigned to the Emmental and the Upper Aargau.
History
Its name is attributed to a Alamanni named " Walthari ". The oldest preserved document stating the church as " Walterswyle " is dated 1139. 1798 Walterswil was a separate municipality. Today, nearly 600 residents live in the community. Around 50 families live full-time and part-time agriculture.
