Weidingen, Germany

Weidingen is a municipality in the Eifel region and belongs to the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality New Castle and is still today a famous Marian pilgrimage site.

Geography

Weidingen located on the edge of the South Eifel Nature Park, and consists of the districts Weidingen and Niederweidingen. The hamlet Weidingen includes the residential places Kalenborn, Rodenhof and scouring Dell.

History

Legend has it that the saint Willibrord 730 erected a church on the site of a pagan temple.
