Alcara li Fusi

Alcara li Fusi is a municipality in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, with 2042 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Alcara li Fusi is located 132 km west of Messina in the northern part of the Nebrodes. The inhabitants are employed in agriculture (citrus, olives and cereals) and sheep farming.

The neighboring municipalities are Cesarò, Longi, Militello Rosmarino, San Fratello and San Marco d' Alunzio.

History

The town was founded by the Arabs. In the year 1090 the place of Count Ruggero the diocese of Messina has been paid.
