Monforte San Giorgio
Monforte San Giorgio is a city in the province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, with 2843 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Monforte San Giorgio is located 32 km west of Messina. The inhabitants work mainly in the production of limestone, coal and agriculture.
Borders the following municipalities: Fiumedinisi, Messina, Roccavaldina, Rometta, San Pier Niceto and Torregrotta.
History
The town was founded in the Middle Ages. It developed around the castle, from which the remains are present.
