Holtsee

Holtsee (Danish Holtsø ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein. In addition to the eponymous village also includes the suburbs Lehmsiek ( partial), Harzhof, Hohenlieth Harp, High Holm, Grünhorst, location and New Castle Holtsee to the community.

History

Holtsee probably originated around the year 1250 under the name Holtze as rural settlement and was first mentioned in 1272. The place name probably refers to the nearby, even today still lies beside a forest lake. Mentioned in documents for the first time the place in 1450, when the needle is Schleswiger recorded income from Holtsee.
