1970 FIBA Africa Championship for Women

The basketball Africa Cup of Women in 1970, the third African Cup of Women's Basketball, took place between 28 March and 4 April 1970 in Lomé, Togo, which hosted the championship for the first time. Winner was the national Madagascar that could still unbeaten, win the title for the first participation for the first time, do so. In the final, the United Arab Emirates could be beaten. For the first time took part in a team from the Republic of Congo, Madagascar and Togo.

In the Preliminary Round ( Group A and Group B) was played to four (Group A ) or three (group B) teams into two groups. Each team played against each other each group exactly once, so that each team three (group A ) or two (group B ) completed games ( a total of nine games were completed ). Pro victory, there were two points for a defeat at least one point. The two highest point totals moved into the semi-finals. In case of equality of the Direct Comparison decided. The two third-placed teams playing for fifth place. The People's Republic of Congo was the last of the group A automatically last of the tournament and landed in seventh place overall.
