In the preceding sprint qualifying time over 200 meters the Chinese Zhong Tianshi drove a new world record of 10.573 seconds. Even her compatriot Gong Jinjie undercutting in this qualification with 10.642 seconds the world record of Miriam Welte from the year before to one hundredth.
