67th British Academy Film Awards

The 67th award from the British Academy Film Awards took place on February 16, 2014 at the Royal Opera House in London. The film awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts ( BAFTA ) were awarded in 24 categories. The event was hosted by the British actor and presenter Stephen Fry, who had already taken over this function for the ninth time.

The nominations for the British Academy Film Awards were announced on 8 January 2014. Most nominations received Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi film Gravity with eleven nominations, followed by David O. Russell's film American Hustle and the historical film drama 12 Years a Slave by British director Steve McQueen, each with ten nominations. In addition to these three films, Paul Greengrass ' Captain Phillips Drama and Stephen Frears ' tragicomedy Philomena are nominated for best film. Judi Dench, the lead actress of Philomena, received her 15th nomination for a BAFTA Film Award. Woody Allen has already received its 24th BAFTA nomination, he was nominated with Blue Jasmine for best original screenplay.

Election procedures

For a nomination at the 67th British Academy Film Awards all feature films were submitted, which were published between 1 January and 31 December 2013 in the UK, or planned for a release until February 14, 2014 from the lender in advance the Academy were presented. The submission of the films had to be done via the website of the BAFTA until 13 November 2013. For short films and animated shorts, special rules apply only British productions are allowed in this category.

In the category of Best Film, as well as in the four actor categories, the nominations were determined by all of the approximately 6,500 members of BAFTA, the members were able to accommodate up to five nominees in these categories choose. In the other categories, only members of the relevant Chapter of the Academy were eligible to vote on the best performance of a young British writers, director and producers voted on a jury. The nominations in the category of best young actor were determined by a jury, the winner will be determined, however, as audience award in an online vote.

The nominations were announced on January 8, 2014 by the actors Luke Evans and Helen McCrory. As of February 12 2014, all BAFTA members can vote in all categories for their favorites.
