Albania national football team

The Albanian national football team (Albanian Kombëtarja ) is the national team of Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit, the Football Association of Albania. She is active internationally since 1930. So far, they only reached respectable results against stronger opponents and could still qualify for no finals of a World or European Championships. In 1946, Albania was able to celebrate the only title in the Balkans Cup.

The most valuable victory for the Albanian national team was probably the 2-1 victory over the then European champions Greece on September 4, 2004 in World Cup qualifying in - Qemal Stafa Stadium in Tirana. The Albanian national team was gone after 10 minutes with a 2-0 lead.

The team is in the official FIFA world rankings currently on the 58th Place ( October 2013 ). In July 2013, it reached the 37th rank its previous best position, including in particular the 1-0 win in the World Cup qualifier against Norway and the following 4-1 win against Lithuania had contributed.

The qualification for the 1966 World Cup was the first qualifying round, took part in the Albania. But the team failed to Switzerland, Northern Ireland and the Netherlands. The only point in the group was a 1-1 draw at home against Northern Ireland.

1970 Albania's participation by FIFA was not accepted. Since 1974, Albania has been apart from the 1978 tournament participated in all World Cup qualifications.

Also qualifying for the 1974 World Cup went to Albania not successful, because only success was a 1-0 home victory over Finland, otherwise it sat only defeats. The first participation in a major tournament to qualify for the European Championship 1964 in Albania for a first round bye in the second round, 1-0 / 0:4 failed over to Denmark.

In the qualifying round for the 1968 European Championship Albania met Yugoslavia and Germany, where the first three games were all significantly lost and only in the last game scored a point profit. Coach

The Albanian footballer legend Loro Boriçi charge of the national team of Albania, among other teams in the period between 1957 until 1976. From 1982 to 1990 trained Shyqyri Rreli the Albanians. On Briegel followed Otto Barić, but after failing European Championship qualifier back in late 2007. Also unsuccessfully looked the Dutchman Arie Haan January 2008 to April 2009 as a coach. In the following May Josip Kuže took over as coach. In October 2011 they separated from it after the less successful performance in qualifying for the European Football Championship in 2012.

Since December 2011 Gianni De Biasi is coach of the Albanian national football team.

International matches against German -speaking national football teams

Internationals against Germany

Both countries met each other previously only in European and World Championship qualifiers. Albania has been able to win a match against Germany, the only draw, however, is responsible for the only non- qualification for a major tournament in Germany and therefore received as a disgrace of Tirana in the football history.

It is noteworthy that the German national team won all discharged during this period only games with a goal difference 1983-2001. Due to unrest in Albania the international match in 1997 was moved from Tirana to Granada.
