Alexander-Morrison-Nationalpark

The Alexander Morrison National Park is a national park in Western Australia ( Australia). It is located 210 km north of Perth and 180 km south of Geraldton in the Shire of Coorow. It is named after the first government botanist of Western Australia, Alexander Morrison.

Parkland

The Alexander Morrison National Park consists of sand plains and low Lateritabbruchkanten over sandstone and shale of the Cockleshell Gully Formation of the Early Jurassic. Sandy heath habitats represent the most common form of vegetation dar. In the park there is however also low forests and Mallee, typical of this area, especially in the western part of the park. The dominant eucalypts are there, the " Powder - barked wandoo " (Eucalyptus accedens ) and " Mallalie " (E. eudesmoides ). In the moors to find all types that are typical of this region, such as banksias, Dryandra, Hakea and Grevilleen species, however, some rare species such as the spiral Busch ( Spirogardnera rubescens ).

History

The land for the park were shut down by the Department of Lands and Surveys, on May 23, 1969 and 1970 and 1971 explains over the years to areas A, which means that the use of these areas can only be changed by Parliament. At the same time they were in management by the National Parks Authority of Western Australia assumed. Was named the Park on October 8, 1971.
