Mount-Frankland-Nationalpark

Mount Frankland National Park is a 374 km ² national park located in southwestern Western Australia, Australia. He is part of the Walpole Wilderness Area.

Location

The park is located about 330 km south of Perth on the South Western Highway. The nearest towns are Manjimup, 65 km north-west, and Walpole, 20 km south of the park. After the nearby D' Entrecasteaux and Shannon National Park, it is the largest protected area in this region.

History

While exploring the area north and west of Albany in 1829, Dr. Thomas Braidwood Wilson climbed the Mount Lindesay. From there, he charted the surrounding hills, including Mount Frankland, named after George Frankland, the then Surveyor - General of Tasmania. The area around this granite collection, also known by the Aborigines Caldyanup was declared on December 23, 1988 National Park.

Flora and Fauna
