Alexander Zavyalov
Alexander Alexandrovich Zavyalov (Russian Александр Александрович Завьялов; born June 2, 1955 in Moscow ) is a retired Soviet / Russian cross-country skiers.
Life and career
Zavyalov won in 1980 at the Olympic Winter Games, which were held at the same time as the World Championships, the bronze medal on the 50 km classic. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 1982, he won behind Norwegian Oddvar Brå the silver medal in the 15 km freestyle. In relay competition, he finished with his team and the simultaneous Norwegians first place two years later Zavyalov won two silver medals at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. About the 30 km freestyle, he was only defeated by compatriot Nikolai Simjatow. In the relay competition subject to the Soviet team nearly the Swedish squadron. Furthermore Zavyalov won in 1981 and 1983, the overall ranking of cross-country skiing World Cup.
