Civezza

Civezza ( in Ligurian: Sivéssa ) is a municipality with 627 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the northern Italian region of Liguria. Politically it belongs to the province of Imperia.

Geography

Civezza on the crest of a hill in the hinterland of the Riviera di Ponente, behind two valleys. The community is about 11 kilometers from the provincial capital of Imperia and borders with its territory to that of Imperia.

Poggi is two kilometers away, the nearest settlement Civezzas to Imperia. From the Ligurian Sea, the town is about four kilometers away. Despite this proximity to the Mediterranean is, at an altitude of 222 meters lying Civezza strongly influenced by the Ligurian Alps. The highest mountain peaks in the area include with its approximately 1150 meters Monte Faldo.

Civezza is 40 kilometers from the French border and 52 kilometers from the Principality of Monaco.

On the Common Ground run some, the year largely in dry riverbeds. Worth mentioning here is the river Lavarghetto. Also noteworthy is the marked proliferation of the olive trees on the hills within Civezza.

According to the Italian classifications for seismic activity, the community of Zone 2 has been assigned. This means that Civezza is in a seismically active zone moderate to strong.

Climate

The municipality is classified under climate category D, as the number of degree days has a value of 1657. This means that in Italy legally regulated heating season is between November 1 and April 15 for 12 hours per day.
