Molini di Triora

Molini di Triora ( in Ligurian: MULINI ) is a municipality with 608 inhabitants ( as at 31 December 2012) in the northern Italian region of Liguria. Politically it belongs to the province of Imperia.

Geography

Molini di Triora is in the Argentina Valley at the confluence of Argentina and the river Capriolo. The eponymous 23 water mills ( mulino means mill) are also the backbone of the economic development of the community. It belongs to the Comunità Montana Argentina Armea and is approximately 38 kilometers from the provincial capital of Imperia.

According to the Italian classification with respect to seismic activity, the community of Zone 3 was assigned. This means that Molini di Triora is in a seismically active zone little.

Climate

Molini di Triora is located in a valley bottom at 460 meters above sea level and is about 25 km from the Ligurian Sea. Thus the church is to be reached too far from the sea to the sea breeze. Nevertheless, the summer temperatures are never excessive. In winter, it comes at night often to frost and snow. The climate in the area is somewhere between a sub-continental and temperate mountain climate.

The municipality is classified under climate category E, as the number of degree days has a value of 2242. This means that in Italy legally regulated heating season is between October 15 and April 15, for 14 hours each day.
