Clan Scott

Scott is the name of a Scottish clan, which originated from the area of the Scottish Borders.

History

The first historically documented Scottish Scott was Uchtredus filius Scoti, who lived in the 12th century and the ancestor of the Scotts of Buccleuch and Balwearie was. By the end of the 15th century the clan had become one of the most powerful families from the border area. The most famous clan members must have been Sir Walter Scott, a national hero of Scotland, who introduced about tourism in his home country and so also the first visit by a British monarch since Charles II organized, as George IV in 1822 came to Edinburgh.

The motto of the clan is amo ( "I love ").
