Coat of arms of Armenia

The law "On the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Armenia" was adopted on 19 April 1992 the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Armenia. Thus, a slightly revised version of the national coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Armenia was introduced (1918-1922) again. It was created by Alexander Tamanjan and Hakob Kodschojan.

Symbols and their meaning

The Armenian coat of arms is divided into four sections in red and blue and shows the coat of arms of the four Armenian royal houses Artaschesian, Arshakuni, Bagratouni and Rubinian (Kingdom of Lesser Armenia ).

On a golden shield means it contains Mount Ararat on which the contours of Arche Noah is presented. Links ( heraldic right) there is a golden eagle and right ( heraldic left) a golden lion, holding the shield holding coats of arms and both resist seeing. They are symbols of spiritual strength and power, steadfastness and courage. Furthermore, the coat of arms adorn an erect golden sword as a symbol of the struggle of the Armenian people for freedom and independence as well as an equally colored feather and ears as symbols of creativity and peacefulness. Under the shield crossed in a gold sheaf of wheat and a branch with deliberate golden broken chain.
