Edward J. McDermott

Edward John McDermott ( born October 29, 1852 in Louisville, Kentucky; † May 1, 1926 ) was an American politician. Between 1911 and 1915 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

After studying law at Harvard University and his admission to the bar he began Edward McDermott to work in this profession. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In 1894 he ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. House of Representatives; in June 1916 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in St. Louis in part, was nominated to the president Woodrow Wilson for re-election.

1911 McDermott was elected to the side of James B. McCreary for Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. This post he held 1911-1915. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. In 1915 he applied unsuccessfully for the office of governor. He died on 1 May 1926.
