James E. Cantrill

Cantrill James Edwards ( born June 20, 1839 Bourbon County, Kentucky, † April 5, 1908 in Georgetown, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1879 and 1883 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

About the youth and education of James Cantrill nothing is handed down. There are also about his career beyond politics in the sources not specified. During the Civil War he served as captain of a cavalry unit in the army of the Confederacy. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

1878 Cantrill was elected to the side of Luke P. Blackburn for Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. This post he held 1879-1883. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he is no longer politically have appeared. James Cantrill was the father of Congressman J. Campbell Cantrill ( 1870-1923 ). He died on 5 April 1908 in Georgetown in Scott County.
