S. Thruston Ballard

Samuel Thruston Ballard ( born February 11, 1855 in Louisville, Kentucky; † January 18, 1926 in Glenview, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1919 and 1923 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

Thruston Ballard initially worked in the mill business. Together with his brother Charles (1850-1918), he founded the company Ballard & Ballard Co., which was at times one of the largest mills worldwide. In the meantime, he served as its president. Politically, Ballard joined the Republican Party.

In 1919 he was elected to the side of Edwin P. Morrow for Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. This post he held 1919-1923. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his term as Lieutenant Governor Thruston Ballard is no longer politically have appeared. He died on January 18, 1926 in Glenview, Jefferson County and was buried in Louisville.
