Eldar Rønning

Eldar Rønning ( born June 11, 1982 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He starts for the ski club Skogn IL and specializes in short classical routes.

His first major success has seen Eldar Rønning in the season 2004/ 05. He won the sprint in Reit im Winkl and reached two more podium finishes in races of the Sprint Cup. In the overall World Cup this season, he was 10 and in the Sprint Cup second behind his compatriot Tor Arne Hetland.

In the 2005/06 season, he focused almost exclusively on the Sprint World Cup. He played only one distance race over 15 -km classic, which he finished as 30th. In the sprint race, it was better, there he was able to enter a third and two fifth places. These results arrived at the end of the season for position 7 in the Sprint Cup and position 11 in the World Cup.

The 2006/07 season began for him with a victory in the World Cup opener in Dusseldorf. After that, he was able to celebrate two more victories over 15 -km classic in Kuusamo and Cogne. In the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo 2007 he won the bronze medal in the sprint and together with Odd - Bjørn Hjelmeset, Lars Berger and Petter Northug the gold medal in the 4x10 km relay. Also in the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec, he belonged to the victorious Norwegian season. On the way home World Championships 2011 in Oslo, he finished more than 15 kms classic-style second place behind Matti Heikkinen.
