Background

McCartney wrote I've Just Seen a Face in the music room in the house of the parents of his then-girlfriend Jane Asher. He first wrote only the music. Since McCartney's aunt liked the composition, they first received the title Auntie Jin 's Theme (German: , Auntie Jin's melody '). Only when he later wrote the words to the composition, the song in I've Just Seen a Face has been renamed.

Recording

I've Just Seen a Face was recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios on 14 June 1965. It was produced by George Martin song, acted as a sound engineer Norman Smith. On this day, the band recorded and I'm down and the worldwide hit Yesterday. Overall, the Beatles recorded six takes of the song. Vocals, drums and three acoustic guitars were played by Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr live. Following the recording were added in multitracked by Ringo Starr maracas. Unusually, I've Just Seen a Face contains no bass.

Publication

In the UK I've Just Seen a Face was released on August 6, 1965 on the album Help!. The marketing department of the U.S. record company, Capitol Records, published the works of the Beatles in the U.S., were very fond of the song and spread it from the U.S. edition of the album Help!, To put it as the first song on the U.S. American edition of Rubber Soul to use, which was not published until four months later.
