Idenheim

Idenheim is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

History

At an early settlement in the municipality indicate discovered burial mounds, which are assigned to the younger Hunsrück- Eifel culture. From a settlement in the Roman period reflects a villa rustica, which lay in the present town center.

Idenheim was first mentioned in a deed of exchange Prüm Abbey from the year 844 under the name " Idanheim ". Approximately in 1600 came Idenheim (Eden Home ) to the archbishopric of Trier in which it remained until the end of the 18th century.

During the French administration Idenheim was the seat of a canton in the Mairie Pfalzel and belonged to the Département de la Sarre.
