International Championship

The International Open was a professional snooker tournament. It was fought from 1981 to 1997 and then replaced by the Scottish Open.

Starting in 1982, the tournament had the status of a world ranking tournament of Snooker Main Tour. In its history there have been frequent change of sponsor, so it also Goya Matchroom Trophy was named in a year.

In the seasons 1990/91 and 1991/ 92, the tournament did not take place. Venues before the interruption were Derby, Newcastle -upon- Tyne and Stoke -on-Trent. From the 1992/93 season it was back in the tour calendar. Now there was at least one year in Plymouth, then discharged three years in Bournemouth and finally in Aberdeen, before it was moved from the 1997/98 season determined to Scotland and continued as Scottish Open.
