Ion Panţuru

Ion Panţuru ( born September 11, 1934 in Sinaia, Prahova ) is a former Romanian bobsledder.

With his brakeman Nicolae Neagoe Panţuru won the bronze medal at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble. It was the first medal for Romania at the Olympic Winter Games. In the four-man Panţuru reached the fourth place, just one tenth of a second behind the medals.

The following year he was the silver medal in the two- win at the World Championships, with Dumitru Focşeneanu as a brakeman in Lake Placid. When he hitchhiked to the airport, he lost the medal. 30 years later, she was again found in a basement and returned Panţuru. His last international medal Panţuru could win again in 1973 at the World Championships in Lake Placid, when he reached back with brakeman Focşeneanu third place.

Before Panţuru bob pilot was, he was a football goalkeeper for carpati Sinaia in the second Romanian football league.
