Alexander Szelig

Alexander Szelig ( born February 6, 1966 in Werdau ) is a retired German bobsledder. His home club was the SSV Altenberg.

He started in 1988 for the crew of the German Democratic Republic ( DDR), 1992, 1994 and 1998 for the German team four times at the Winter Olympics, and was at the games in 1994 in Lillehammer, together with Harald Czudaj, Karsten Brannasch and Olaf Hampel Olympic champion in four-man bobsleigh.

Also with Harald Czudaj the helm, he won at the World Championships 1990 in St. Moritz starting for the GDR as well as a silver medal in 1991 in Altenberg and 1995 in Winterberg for the German team one bronze medal in the four-man event. In addition, he was in the four-man Harald Czudaj 1992 in Koenigssee, 1998 in Igls and 2001 in Koenigssee European champion and third at the European Championships in 1995 in Altenberg. At the European Championships in 2002 in Cortina d' Ampezzo, he won Matthias Benesch as helmsman another bronze medal in the four-man event.
