Eduard Scherrer

Eduard Scherrer ( born April 15, 1890 in Leysin, † 4 July 1972) was a Swiss bobsledder and Olympic athlete of 1924.

Together with Alfred Schläppi, Heinrich Schläppi and Alfred Neveu won Eduard Scherrer with his Bob Acrobate gold at the Winter Olympics I. 1924 in Chamonix.

The heavy Holzbob with the extremely wide runners had Eduard Scherrer won in a raffle of the gymnastics club in his home village of Leysin and was never driven on a bobsleigh run. He persuaded his friends Alfred Schläppi, Heinrich Schläppi and Alfred Neveu with him to the amusement of the villagers down the road from Leysin to Le Sépey down. When they log in at the Swiss excretions for the winter sports week in Chamonix, which had been intended more as a lark. But to her surprise, the Leysiner were included in the Swiss team and drove as blatant geek to Chamonix. In case of prolonged thaw the Acrobate Bob was, thanks to its wide skids and its wooden structure, compared to everyone else in the advantage and won with three times the fastest Olympic victory.
